“It’s good to make it, better when your people make it with you. Money comin’, money goin’, ain’t like you can take it with you.” – Aubrey Graham.
Imagine the feeling you get when you reach THAT goal. That thing you worked so hard for. That thing that you lost sleep, food, pleasure, and almost everything else for. Imagine you now achieve it. Friends and acquaintances who are close enough to you will hear about your new level of success and will come around to congratulate you. You feel fulfilled to a certain extent – maybe you breathe a massive sigh of relief and you grin from ear to ear while you bask in the praise and adulation of your loved ones.
Yes, some people may be there only to confirm if the rumour is true. They heard that you made it and they did not believe that someone “like you” could do it.
But we’re not talking about those people now. We’re more concerned that you unlocked another level of greatness and we’re here to say how much you deserve to enjoy the moment. Remember those friends I mentioned up there? Now, remember those times when you were all discussing this moment? When you shared your dreams and wishes with them, but doubted if you’d be able to do it? Remember how they motivated you and did not allow you to feel sorry for yourself without doing something to move yourself closer towards the goal? They’re some of the real MVPs. Imagine the joy you’re all feeling at this moment because of your success? Now, imagine if the reason why you are all gathered is because each of you has something to share…and the success isn’t just your own but everyone on your team has attained something great too.
Success is sweet, but it is sweeter when it is collective. I felt a huge weight off my shoulders when I finally launched my blog site. Although I had, and still have, a private site that I have run for almost a decade, the feeling was different with this one because I knew that it would be open to the public. Safe to say I was happy when I published the first blog. I am even happier that I am not the only one in my circle that has done something amazing lately. I am only the latest person in my group – The Last Avengers – to launch something. Like play, we did it, one after the other. In the midst of our jokes and ratchetness, we have always encouraged each other to be great. I remember the push they all gave me when I mentioned that I wanted to start a blog. At one point or another, I have had conversations with each person in the group and I have left the conversation with great ideas. Also, we have always supported each other in our endeavours, as diverse as they are.
So, while I am happy that I am finally able to pursue what I love to do, I am happier that I am not the only one around who is doing something amazing. Here are some of them:
Let her tell it, she is a Business Intelligence Analyst & Computer Scientist. But her passion is acting and creating. You can see it in her first solo project.
What is it that you need? You’ve got an event and you need your hair done? She’s got you. Oh! You don’t trust yourself to do your own make up and you need a professional? She’s got you too.

Yes, we’re very serious in my group of friends. But you can also say we’re well-rounded because we’ve got the snacks and food covered too. You haven’t placed an order yet? Then you’re missing something. Don’t get left out.
This is the latest addition to what my friends are doing. We already have the food plug, we now have the best mocktails, smoothies, and parfaits supplier as well.
The amazing thing is that most of these endeavors started this year. What is challenging is that all the great people who run these endeavors are full-time students who also either work full-time or part-time. You know what’s even crazier? It’s the fact that whatever I have written above to describe these creatives is barely the tip of the iceberg as far as what each of them is capable of.
So, I celebrate you all – the creative minds that are in my circle. I’m glad I’m able to witness your successes so far and I look forward to each of us breaking more good news of our latest achievements.
¡salud!
P.S. The truth is that these are not the only creative minds that I know; I have not even mentioned those I befriended when I was in school – those whose achievements impress but don’t surprise me, because they’re all that and then some. You can find a few more here: http://ow.ly/cFNg50Ac1Tu
