Break Is Over!

**Cue “Welcome Back” Ma$e**

Aaaaaannnnnddddd we’re back!!!!

Before getting to the short discussion for this week, I want to take a moment to appreciate all the support that I have received on this project since it started. I appreciate all the readers and followers for your overwhelming encouragement for little ol’ me. Rants From The Privileged Seat/Privileged Rants was started because I wanted an outlet to voice my thoughts and try to encourage/inspire at least one person. Everyone who heard me discuss this idea pushed me to start and you have all been there, even when I went quiet for a while. I thank you all for bearing with me and I look forward to getting more of your support.

Why was it so quiet here? I wish I could answer that question with something other than saying I did not plan to stay away for this long. This has basically been a lunch break which turned into an indefinite hiatus…at least until now. The pause was initially because I was preparing to release a discussion about a very heavy subject. It was a subject I could relate to very much, one that happens to be the cause of one of my biggest fears in life. Seeing as it was such a serious topic, I did not want to rush it and come up with a few hundred words on a blog. I also assumed that others might have experienced the same thing. This made me reach out to a few friends and I discovered that I was right – it was a common occurrence. As a result, I decided to ask for the inputs of these friends. In the midst of trying to put all the ideas together, I got overwhelmed. Add to that all that was going on in the media, with regards to BLM, police brutality, #ENDSARS. Although I processed these privately, they did take a toll on me and the creative process. That being said, I could have done better than to leave my readers hanging. For not doing that, I’m sorry. For not listening to those who constantly encouraged me to return to blogging, I’m sorry too.

WHERE WERE WE THE LAST TIME?
As I said, I had plans for heavy content before the break. However, that was not the only topic in the pipeline. There were other issues that I wanted to tackle, although I had not fully developed them. One of the topics was formulated at the height of the BLM protests sparked by the use of brute force and senseless killings of black and brown men and women. The purpose of that blog was to examine how the movement was more of a trend for some. Another blog I was working on was going to be titled “What has COVID-19 taught us?” This blog would have looked at the current state of the world, which has changed drastically from what we were used to. Although the world is still in the thick of it, I felt it was good to take stock of the previous months and draw some lessons from our experiences so far.

WHAT DO WE DO NOW?
Now that I’m back, I have fresh content. The plan is not to deviate from the central theme of this project – finding ways to be appreciative in every situations that we find ourselves. For now, there are 2 short blog ideas that echo this theme. They will be released in the coming weeks. There is still a plan to develop the other ideas that I spoke about, especially that “heavy subject” – I can’t just let it go, but it has to be done properly.

There will also be additions besides blogs to this page. There will be collaborations with other content creators with well-established platforms. It will be interesting to get the perspectives of other people on different topics and I am excited to share that with everyone. Part of the plan is to also launch the podcast part of this website. The podcast was always a major piece of the Privileged Rants puzzle way back when it was first conceptualized. Somehow, the blog came first. Now, I am working on adding the podcast but I need to get it right.

Once again, I appreciate the support so far, I apologize for leaving unannounced, and I am back now. I look forward to sharing exciting content with you all. Tell someone to invent someone else – we can all learn something together.

See you soon 🙂
